    Taxpayer Identification Number
    lang:en
The taxpayer identification number (TIN) is an identifying number used for tax purposes in the United States and in other countries under the Common Reporting Standard. The unique identifier is assigned to the Account Holder by the tax administration in the Account Holder’s jurisdiction of tax residence. It is a unique combination of letters and/or numbers used to identify an individual or entity for the purposes of administering the tax laws of that jurisdiction. In some countries where the TIN is not used a national identification number, national identity number, or national insurance number is used by the governments of countries as a means of tracking their citizens, permanent residents, and temporary residents for the purposes of work, taxation, government benefits, health care, and other governmentally related functions.
